Welcome to SlideBot!
You now have the ability to automatically create beautifully designed, individually tailored presentations in less than a minute. We have had a team of designers working for over a year to create tens of thousands of design rules which, in combination with one another, guide every aspect of the automated design process – so that you don’t have to. Once created, you then have the ability to edit, present or export your slide-decks anytime, anywhere.
So that’s enough talking, let’s get started…
- 1. Your new personal slide studio
- 2. Choosing widescreen or standard screen dimensions
- 3. Image licence
- 4. Inputting your slide content
- (i) Uploading an existing text file
- (ii) Typing your content in directly
- 5. Tracking your progress
- 6. Changing the background
- 8. Adjusting objects
- 9. Adjusting text
- 10. Add, rearrange or delete slides
- 11. Export to Powerpoint and PDF
- 12. Present your slide-deck
SlideBot will default to produce slide-decks in widescreen mode, which is a 16:9 aspect ratio. The reason for this is that in recent times, 16:9 has become more widely adopted and is now the default aspect ratio in widescreen monitors, TV’s, laptops and projectors. In addition to this, SlideBot integrates seamlessly into PowerPoint, which has now joined the bandwagon by adjusting their default aspect ratio to 16:9.
If you wish to produce your slide-deck in the standard 4:3 aspect ratio, this can be achieved by simply selecting 'Standard' in the 'Layout Type' option of the upload screen.
- 'Flexible' option: If you’re creating slides that are not being distributed publicly or being used for commercial purposes, then that means you’re pretty flexible and this is the option for you. By being flexible, you will have access to all 25 million images in our database
- 'Commercial Use' option: If you’re using these slides for commercial purposes – which Creative Commons defines as “any manner that is primarily intended for or directed toward commercial advantage or private monetary compensation.” - then you will need this option. By clicking ‘Commercial Use’, SlideBot will remove all of the images that have a NonCommercial License. However, if you encounter an image that you believe shouldn’t be included, feel free to let us know and we’d be happy to look into it for you.

(a) Dragging and Dropping
When you drag a text file and hover over the upload box, the background will change to diagonal stripes and the text will instruct you to 'Drop to Upload'. Once you let go of the file, SlideBot will start processing your presentation.

A file can be selected from anywhere on your computer or from any of the cloud services highlighted in red below. All you need to do is simply click the 'Choose File' button and locate the file wherever you last saved it.
By clicking on the 'Type it now' button, you are electing to type your content directly into SlideBot. At this point, your selections may look like this:
If you are comfortable with all of your selections regarding the dimensions, style, licensing, and content, then click on the 'Create my slides' button.
This will take you through to the text input section, where you can type (or cut and paste) your content directly into SlideBot.
EXAMPLE. You would like 3 slides in your presentation with the following text:
Slide 1: Strategic Planning
Slide 2: Values and Ethics
Slide 3: Integration
You would type it into SlideBot as follows:
Then all you need to do is click on the 'Upload This Text' button and in a matter of seconds, SlideBot will have prepared your completed presentation for you.

When you click on the 'Backgrounds' tab, the 'Backgrounds' interface will appear, which will show you all of the images in the SlideBot system associated with the keywords you have inputted in your text. You can simply scroll through these images and click on any of them to view what they look like with your text. Once you have found the best one, simply click on the wording 'Backgrounds' at the top of the tab and the tab will disappear.
Search for images
If you would like to find images associated with any other keywords or you would like to add in additional keywords to help SlideBot filter the images for you, simply click on the text box located in the 'Backgrounds' tab and start typing. Once you have input all of the words you would like to search for, click on the 'Search' button and SlideBot will find all images that match those keywords.
Full Colour Background
If you wish to have the background a plain color, you can simply select this color from the menu located on the top right hand side of the 'Backgrounds' tab.

Switch text position
You can use the 'switch text position' dropdown menu to change the position of the text overlay. SlideBot analyses each image to ensure the overlay is being used in the position that best suits that specific image, however you may want to see what the overlay looks like in alternate positions - that is where this button comes in. If you want to remove the overlay you can also select 'On image', which will allow you to move the text anywhere you like on the slide.
Changing size of overlay
If you wish for the overlay to be bigger or smaller, you can elect to do that in the 'Switch Template Size' menu. In this menu you can elect what % of the slide you would like taken up by the overlay.
The overlay sizes are as follows:
Switch overlay color
To switch the overlay color from black to white, use the 'Switch overlay color' menu item. This will automatically change all the overlays in your presentation to reflect this change.
When you need to add an additional slide to your slide-deck, you can do so by clicking the 'Add slide' button located on the left side-menu. Once this button is clicked, a new slide will appear at the end of your presentation. If you wish for this slide to be move, simply click and hold on it and move it to its desired located.
All that is required to rearrange your slides is to click and hold on the slide you wish to move (in the left side-menu) and drag it to the position you would like it, then let go. You will notice that the slide pulses as you click and hold to indicate that it is being moved.
A slide can be deleted by clicking on the 'trash can'-icon located in the top menu bar. A dropdown will appear with 3 options: Delete selection, delete side, and delete presentation. If you click on the 'Delete slide' option, a confirmation box will appear asking whether you are sure that you want to delete the slide. If you click on the 'Yes, remove the slide' button, the slide you are currently on will be deleted.

It is important to note that your computer may not have all of the fonts installed that you have used in your SlideBot presentation. As such, you should click on the button that says 'Download fonts', which will automatically download these onto your computer for you. If you do not do this, the presentation you download will look slightly different as your computer will choose a different font on your behalf.
You can present your slide-deck at any time by pressing the 'Show Fullscreen' button in the top left of the screen.
When you are presenting, you can skip to the next slide by pressing the right-arrow key on your keyboard. You can also skip back to the previous slide by pressing the left-arrow key.
If you wish to exit the presentation at any point, this can be done by pressing the 'Esc' key on your keyboard.
